Launched at the coast guard today around 6:30 with perfect conditions. Water was nice and clear and 57.5 degrees. Only bait I could find today was smelt but the halibut were down for that! Managed a 12 and 17lber and one decent ling about 24”. The 12lb was caught in 45ft in front of the dive buoys along with the ling. The bigger halibut was in 30ft in front of the tin building. Also got sharked 3 times with one that felt like a thresher just by the speed of the thing but I didn’t even get close to gaining any line before it chewed through my leader. The other sharks I’ve been landing have been soupfins but this one felt different. Sailfish managed to land a perfect eating size soupfin today but we’re both hoping it was a big halibut! I’m gonna try for ghosts tomorrow I’ll keep everyone posted.

Awesome on the halibut and the shark.

I'd love to land a thresher. I've hooked a couple of them, but have not even come close to landing one.

Me too! It’d be a fun ride. I think you’d need a light tuna setup and a heavy fluoro or wire leader to get one in.
Where were you hooking up on them?
Pretty sure Sailfish hooked one last week too and it looked like he had a motor on his kayak 😂 he was getting towed like 2mph

Nice brace of flatties.

I've landed one and had three guests get them - all on barbless salmon leaders.  Their teeth or their tail does get the line most of the time, but they sometimes stick.
