Thanks guys. I just got the barbless hooks. They look good. I made another Sabiki with them. Now just need to try it :-)
I would say though, if you use the standard Sabiki rigs, the main line is too flimsy, and you can try stuffing it all into a ziplock, but chances you’ll have a mess when pulling it out. That’s why using a stiffer line for the main is important. Allow you to pack it small and deploy/repack fast

Intriguing. Have anchovies been hitting the sabiki with the heavy main line reliably? Sometimes they seem quite skittish.

I have tried making my own. You need the smallest salmon egg hooks. Any bling or hair will have negative effect and attract jacksmelt. But sabiki rigs are more like consumables. You will have to replace them after one or two times in saltwater. I ended up buying a bunch from eBay.

I don’t remember if I caught something on this Sabiki, but if so it was smelt. I just got a pack of tiny barbless hooks. I think 0.8mm length. I'll try them and repot back. I went to the pier today, saw some pelicans diving, and nobody catching anchovies. But then nobody was using a Sabiki rig for anchovies; the rigs used were for bigger fish and folks were catching small perch on them.

Thread has some interesting ideas I've never thought about before.  I think I'm going to try making a barbless one to try out on the wharf for fun.  If I could avoid smelt when targeting anchoive that would be really awesome. If they bite a bare hook without bait or fish skin that would be awesome as well!

I was packing a small rod just for a sabiki last year at the cove but this year Im just wrapping a pool noodle with some line and tying a sabiki rig to it to hand line them. This way I can just stow it quickly instead of having it drag behind me and possibly get tangled in the net or something.

I should make a nice little barbless 2 rig set up like you have shown so eric stops giving me crap about my barbs when salmon fishing! I can only hope to be in that situation again...
