Hello, interested in the hobby, just need to find a kayak! I'm in Santa Rosa and have gotten into fishing in the past few years. I have mostly been crab snaring from the jetty and fishing off the cliffs and rocks along the coast. Being able to fish from a kayak would create so much more opportunities and I would enjoy the adventurous aspect of it as well. For now, I'm planning on reading up on recommended kayaks and gear before diving into it.

Hi meconium,
Well lots a good fishing Kayaks..... I would suggest a pedal one though...... lots of good ones on Craigslist right now.... way more choices than I had 4 months ago and bought a new old town pdl 120 which is great for me..... lots of hobies that get used a lot out in ncka land.   If you find a good used one that would be a great choice and many through in a bunch of stuff too...... I was amazed how much I spent and spend in gear for the sport and fishing equip too.

Got 3 Halibut in the last two months and I will forget about the credit card woes whenever I catch another or some rockfish or salmon... oh and Kokanee as I am camping for a week in July at Stampede.

Welcome and have a great day

Troy

Welcome!

Similar to what the other Troy said, get a pedal one, if you can invest in it even a motorized one but at that point you might as well look for skiffs. I bought my first yak last year, Vibe Sea Ghost 130, it's an amazing kayak but its a standard paddle kayak which get tiring pretty fast. I think the biggest downside is when you are actually fishing and need to move around.

Welcome again, hope you find a yak soon
