First time making the pilgrimage from SC to Lexington res. The vessel inspection guy was super cool and I had no problem getting otw. The lake level is also way up! I drifted cut bait around for 3 hrs between 2 ft and 60 ft hoping to find some catfish. Didn't get a single bite, but marked plenty of bait on the graph and will try for bass next time. Saw a bald eagle. Enjoyed my bagel sandwich on the warm day.

Thanks for the report and good try.
Maybe the fishes aren't biting today but I hear there are huge cats there.

Thanks for the report. I live just up the hill from Lex and haven't been there all year. You've inspired me to give it a try, and maybe a little self-rescue practice too...

Thanks for the report.

That used be such a cool little lake with some decent bass in there, but haven't fished it in over 10 years when the lake levels were really low.

Been a favorite for shore fishing for bass and carp. Good spot to practice or take kids.  But have never launched my kayak there.  Many times though at Stevens Creek Res.

The water level is way up right now and I was impressed with how clean the lake and surrounding is. I mean on a scale of 1 through Pinto Lake the lex is a solid CLEAN 3. With the seemingly healthy bait population (shad?), I would imagine there must still be a bass fishery. Still would be nice to find the cats...

Well shoot, if you're looking for catfish in Lexington, go check it out on Sunday or Monday, after the rain on Saturday. Fish wherever you have a feeder creek. They stack up in those areas eating everything that comes down those creeks...

Sorry for the late post but I drove by it on my way to the Sand Crab Classic and was amazed at how much water was in the lake on both sides of the road.  Grew up in that area and used to fish it a lot as well as the creek some 30 years ago. Large crappie were fun to catch back then that would succumb to the minnow under a bobber - and the occasional trout plants made it a good place to fish.

I wonder if there are still any crappie.
