went on fishndives boat yesterday and left out of the cg wharf. it was easy to launch and not many people there. the question was , what was not biting? we had everything from rockfish to sand dabs, smelt to mackerel. it was a fun day, kind of windy but not bad at all. my wife and i were on the boat til noon and we headed home. those are some large sand dabs out just west of the mile bouy. the mackerel and smelt were
everywhere.

we fished from 45-150 ft deep.

i used the powerbait GULP saltwater squid lures as well as the small stinky plastic mackerel. those things stink but they seemed to work. also used big weights to keep the lures down at the bottom. we were on a fast drift by the red bell buoy.

A long time ago, (1996 I thinki), the water was super warm, I had just got back from a surf trip to baja where we caught a lot of fish.

I went out with a friend on his zodiac and pulled a jointed rebel around, we hooked some black rockfish but also a barracuda.

The other day my neighbor said he bought a barracuda from some folks at a farmer's market in milpitas. They said they caugt it in monterey bay.

I guess if you troll something shiny real fast you might also catch a barracuda right now.

so that's what else you could have tried for!

Best,
J
