I have never seen the 180 drive up close and personal and would not have thought the sprocket would be a weak point. But from the picture, it does look less beefy in the sprocket area, compared to my GT drive, or is that not the case?
Lots of weak points in the MD180 drive.

I can relate to that squeaking noise... The only serious problem that I've ever had with my GT drive was a near-constant squeaking. I fixed it by replacing the delrin bearings with nylon bearings of the same diameter, using one less bearing per axle (nylon expands ever-so-slightly when wet and could bind if you use the same number of bearings). I use no grease or lube of any kind. I've got over 1K pedaling miles on my GT drive with this setup with no noise or other issues.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Still waiting patiently for a sealed bevel gear to be available for mirage drives.

How many teeth are there supposed to be on each sprocket on the MD180 V2 drive?  2017 Outback.  I have 9 one one side and 8 on the other.  I just want to know if I just sheared one off of one side or multiple off of each side.  How easy is it to find an older GT drive.  I never use reverse and would much rather have the old GT drive.

Fastlane in San Diego adjusted by drive and said to lub it with silicon spray.   4 years on my 180 and no problems.

For any part that gets wet, I don’t think silicone spray is going to last more than a few minutes. That’s based on my experience with squeaky mirage drives—I tried every lube multiple times before I discovered the nylon bearings trick.
