Just curious, anyone try off Crissy Field for halibut? I know they always mention it for halibut in the bay. If so, how are the currents there?

Jonesz, I know SteveS has fished this area for Stripers and butts...he's most likely out of town right now or he'd post something about it.

Last Year, Bill and I were in Art's boat and we did drift the area for a little while but did not get any bites. I think it's worth a try - you'll never know till you get your feet wet :smt002

Amount of tide change would probably be the key there.  You'd want to fish it around the slack or on days with minimal change, i.e. difference between high and low.  That would be a good spot - easy park and launch, etc.  I haven't seen many reports of success there this year, although some years the party boats are thick in there.  I look every morning on my way to work!

Well I gave it a go on my way back home from the MBK. When we got there Monday afternoon it was howeling, so I didn't put in. We spent another night in the van and I hit it first thing in the morning. The incoming tide was just getting started when I put in ( figured if,.. make that when, the wind kicks up it would be in the direction of flow) and I tried to make bait for nearly an hour. With one dinky chovie to show for it, I switched to guns. Put on a couple lures and started trolling. Never got a touch... Kept catching balls of kelp though. One other PB boat gave it a drift, before they took off. I would have felt a lot better if I'd been able to make some bait. One thing that was good, was even when the tide started to rip pretty good, I could hug the shore, and go back up stream at a pretty good clip for another drift. I think the place has potential. One other thing, is there is a steady procession of cute joggers  :smt007 passing by if you get tired of the view of the bridge  :smt002  I was flipping back and forth if I should by frozen bait the night before and took a chance making bait. Seems like everytime I bring frozen, I catch live bait too, don't bring the frozen and I get blanked on the live bait...go figure.  :smt012
Hey Schoolie,
Do me a favor, if you ever drive by and see a bunch of boats working it, drop me a PM and let me know. I'd like to give it another go.
