Not sure if this means anything, but I’m the past, it seems like pelicans dive bombing something isn’t the shoreline that steadily moves into the bay, when correlated with rain can be a sign of a herring run setting up.

Would love to hear what others think

There is definitely a lot of bait off OB right now - I surfed this morning and there was tons of bird activity and the dolphins were feeding on something as well. Dolphins were slapping their tails on the water and working in and out of what appeared to be a bait ball outside the lineup. One that looked to be about 500lbs (super round) did a huge aerial out of one of the waves - so fun to watch.

Cheers,
Brad

Dang!  I'd be casting that shoreline for sure!

the last couple weekends running the gate there have been thousands of birds under the bridge. Not sure what they're eating but there's bait there.

A friend was out crabbing on his boat a few weeks ago and said they got into a huge school of jacksmelt, and mixed in with the smelt were large herring. So yeah, maybe an early spawn is in the works.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...
