Since about last month I can’t seem to be able to post a YouTube link to the forum. I’ve noticed other members are having the same problem. The YouTube link appears in the post as a big empty rectangle.

Do people have this issue? What’s the fix? Who’s the admin?

Just don’t tell me the links cause whale entanglement…

There was a post on this recently, I believe Tedski gave a technical explanation that blew me away, and i'm a techie.   :smt044 Try clearing your cache, or try using a private window to access to the site and see if it works.

This is a mixed content issue.  The youtube embed widget uses http instead of https and modern browser disallow mixed content by default.  If you visit NCKA via https, youtube embeds won't load.  If you visit via http, it should work.

I'd also be interested in a conversation with the admins to help resolve this.  It's probably as simple as upgrading the youtube embed plugin or configuring it to prioritize https.

I’m visiting NCKA via http. And I tried posting even without the protocol (so just www.YouTube…) and even that didn’t work.
When I switch to https, the link shows correctly. I think the plug-in automatically changes the link (that is, after you save your post).

I think regardless of the user protocol (http or https) the plugin should display the link and image.

Correct that the plugin rewrites the address.  That's where the problem lies.

Can you open the dev console in your browser when you visit the page with the failed youtube embed and paste any errors here?

Yeah, I need to update the whole site as well as the plug-ins.  Perhaps I’ll disable the plugin for now so at least the link shows.

This starts to feel like my day job  :smt044
I’ll try tomorrow maybe.
I’m visiting NCKA from my phone exclusively so no dev console for me here
