Hi Everyone,
My 13 yr old son and I want to get into kayak fishing (we are avid surf fishermen currently). A colleague who is an avid kayaker suggested we get in touch with this group. We are based in Ladera, CA, and are looking for tips as to how to get started kayak fishing.

Welcome, Jan

I think your question is too broad to provide detailed information.
You might consider investing some time to narrow your question.  Watching Youtube videos might give you some better ideas.  I can recommend MooMoo Outdoors & Diehard Fishing.

Single kayak or tandem kayak
Freshwater or saltwater
What is your budget
Species you want to target

Welcome to NCKA!  :smt006  Getting started is easy once you know what you want to do and what you want to fish for.  Safety first though, make sure your properly dressed for immersion and have a great fitting and comfortable PFD to wear at all times. You can rent at places in Santa Cruz, Monterey, Moss landing, etc and rent all the immersion gear needed.  Monterey Bay Kayaks can give personal instruction, guided trips, etc.
