Launched at SC harbor at 7. Headed to mile buoy. The swell seems to keep most fish mouth shut. Only caught two small rock fish which I let go. Decided to head to the lighthouse to see if better luck there. While waiting for my partners to get ready, saw some fish in fish finder. Drop my 8oz swim bait. And not long, caught a nice ling at 26”. It’s not big, but my PB on kayak. So I am pretty happy.
Trolled to the light house with no actions. Eventually caught two more ok size rockfish in about 60 feet of water. First time fished the light house area. Did not mark many fish, and very few takers. Started heading back around 11 as the wind kicked up. Picked up a couple king fish and jack smelt. Trolled the king fish for a bit at 40 feet water but no halibut. The ocean was a bit too rough to continue. So we called it a day.

Didn’t target mackerel, but no accidental hookup either.

That's a solid looking 26" ling. Some are skinnier. Sounds like a good day for SC considering the swells.

Yes. Lloyd.  Likely this Saturday around 7am from F dock if the forecast holds. There will be 2 or 3 kayakers among us. You are very welcome to join us.
