Paddle from Noyo harbor to Big River Sat 8/25 World Record

As I posted in the General Talk section, Tom Jones, extreme athlete, 7 time Thai kick boxing champion, and marathon runner is now paddling through the Fort Bragg area. He is attempting to set a world record by paddling the entire coast of California standing on a surfboard. Over the last couple days he has been north of Fort Bragg and I've been helping his crew load and unload wave runners, etc. that follow him along to film and as safety support.

Tom is paddling to raise awareness of ocean pollution; specifically all the plastic that ends up along the coast and affects ocean wildlife. This is an issue every one of us can get behind!

On Saturday, he plans on departing from Noyo Harbor and paddle down the coast to Big River. My friend and I are going to accompany him on our kayaks for at least part of the journey. We don't have finalized plans so far but this is what I'm thinking so far: They have been starting pretty early in the morning, around 6:00 or 7:00. I'm proposing to my buddy that we park one of our trucks at Russian Gulch and launch from Noyo with Tom Jones in the morning. I think Russian Gulch is about 5 nautical miles south of Noyo harbor so it will be a long but doable paddle. We might also park a car at Caspar beach, which is about half way, in case the weather is unfavorable.
