Launched from Santa Cruz harbor with clockwise. Out around 6:30 and back 1:30. Caught about 10 RF each of us. Most of the rock fish was from miles buoy. Trolled for halibut but no takers. Swell forecast was 4 feet. And wind picked up around 1.
Overall a nice fishing day and glad to have a company.

Seem so. Regardless, I plan to give it a try tomorrow. According to Bayside "The Halibut fishing has been hot from Capitola to Pajaro in 60-80 feet of water." So, I might have to go east from the harbor. As an added bonus, that could be a really good test of my new-and-improved shark shield...

Hi Jonh, nice to meet you on the dock, I’m Qiu. I did talk to one guy on the water he caught two halibuts around the mile buoy and missed one 35-incher this Saturday.

Qiu, Nice meet you. And good to hear some halibuts were caught. I wonder maybe live bait is the ticket for halibut. We were trolling lures and swimbait.

I tried giving my rockfish to John so I wouldn't have so many fish to clean but he caught alot too!  :smt005

I spoke to a couple with a green tandem hobie in the parking lot and they reported the same: rockfish but no halibut.

Saw a guy at the bait shop weighing his ~32 pound halibut. I think he said he was 5 miles out.

Thanks John for joining me. Having company definitely makes the long paddles to fishing spots go by quicker.
