Net size looks good but it looked like when you reached with the net you did not pull with you rod and you pushed the fish farther away.   Good video,  I’ve done the same thing.

Well, it happens.  Here is my latest adventure into missed net jobs... In this specific case, the bite was so hot I just got back into the action...  It aint always like that!   :smt044

This specific event was the third like it in the last two seasons leading me to throw massive blame on my net... its just too small for good kings.  When loletaEric says go BIG, don't F around... go BIG!!!

Oh man, that was so close.  This is why I don't record myself, just more heartbreaking footage to review later on.  Not like it doesn't already replay in our heads over and over.  :smt005

Ha ha.  The video should have a disclaimer in the beginning "May trigger PTSD for serious kayak salmon fisherman"
He got a video of me losing a salmon in similar fashion later that day.  I told him to never upload it.  A few days later, I had to watch it...
Luckily, the videos of actually landing salmon make up for it.

Great story, MyBoy.  There's a fine line and a careful balance between horsing your fish where you may break it off and letting it fight where it may get away seemingly needlessly.  Neither outcome is fun, and neither is so directly related to our actions as we feel they are - usually...

Salmon fishing is a game for the mind - only the strong can survive!   :smt005

Nothing motivates you more to go back than losing a big one.
