Today was my first day on the kayak. My names Eli, i just got a Hobie outback and am looking forward to fishing all over the bay area. I live in Petaluma. Went out to tomales bay to try for Halibut this morning and out of the 10 boats nobody caught one. The bait has moved into the bay though so hopefully the Halibut follow soon.

Welcome aboard.  I tried my luck in Tomales Bay last weekend for nothing.  I counted at least 14 boat/kayaks out there and didn't see a single net raise.  I can usually at least catch a shaker.  I was jigging and drifting live bait.  Tomales Bay is generally good for sting ray if you're just looking for action.  Throw a squid on a sliding sinker setup and hang on.

Thanks, good to know I'll definitely try that out. Someone told me when I was there that the Halibut should be following the bait and come inside the bay in the next week or two, so thats when I'll be trying next.

Hey Eli! I think I saw you at the launch at Miller! I was in the olive PA 14! Glad to see you joined the forum here! We should totally hit up tomales sometime! Hali should move in sometime in the next month of so, granted they are supposed to be here by now.
