Headed to Bodega for salmon on a friends boat on Saturday. Any recommendations as to which way to head besides trying to follow a party boat like a hungry sealion ?  :smt001

We just slayed ‘em.

The bite was down south between bird rock and elephant rock.
Fished wired anchovies with no junk. We caught 8 and 7 of them were on one rod fished 57’ down OTW.
Slow troll was key. Just above 2 mph.

It’s going to be a mad house at the launch tomorrow.

Good luck.

Oh yeah. Early morning bite. We launched at 5 am. The bite died down at 9:30 but we stayed until 4:00 and managed to scrape up 4 between 10am and 3:30pm.

Lost one salmon. Hooked a few here that were smoked. Even the mussels were biting.  :smt001

Bulldog, nice to meet you this morning. We had similar results, my buddy was chumming(puking) pretty hard by 8am with that south wind and north swell knocking my little boat around so we didn't stick it out too long. I even made a couple drifts hoping to catch some rockfish for not even a nibble.

Good meeting you as well  Phil. Thanks again for paying it forward.

My buddy had one nice salmon to about 10 feet behind the boat before coming unbuttoned .

Got tired of being tossed around with that mixed swell and rock fished for about an hour for one decent ling and 3 rockfish.

Headed in to calmer waters for a try at halibut. No luck. Drifted past a guy who had a nice 25lber.

Nice boat. Looks pretty new ?

Kinda, You can read the story here:

TL;DR version: I picked it up as a partially completed homebuilt last year and finished it up.

That is awesome Jeff. It looked like right off the showroom to me.

I seen a pretty interesting wooden boat the other day at Moss landing. Had never seen anything like it. It looked like a 17 foot wooden canoe. Except  wider. It had a square opening in the middle about 2/3rds back where there was an outboard attached.

Should have taken a pic.
