Caspar Cover Aug 18 Spearfishing & Abs from kayak

Two of my buddies from Eureka came up to Fort Bragg and I took them out on kayaks to some rocks off Caspar beach.

I just replaced the head on my spear gun and it worked out nicely; I got my first Cabezon!

I pulled one abalone that was just barley seven inches... the narrow way!

Nice going, I was just up the way from you and limited both days on some 8's and slightly bigger. So what did that ab measure out lengthwise-looks big.

The abs were each just under nine inches long ways. I've yet to get one over nine; they all seem to be from 8 3/4 to 8 15/16 where I have dove.

Oh yeah, visibility was 8 feet or so; not as good as it has been but still decent. All the bottom fish I speared were in less than five feet of water.
Weather conditions were good, a little wind but we used a clamp I built to connect our kayaks to some kelp. Our low profile in the water made wind a non-issue.
