The rumor I heard was near the Half Moon Bay weather buoy, which is 20 miles offshore, and off point Reyes. Kind of far to go on a kayak.

Would be fun but a 5+ hour paddle out to fish then to do a 5+ hour back sounds like way too much work. Need a gas boat to take you and the kayak out to the fishing grounds and back!

It'd be like 8 hrs return.  imagine yaking 20+ miles laden w tuna, b low riding lika mug, or dragging it hog tied 2 the gunwhales omg

Coastside is going nuts over the first reports. Now someone posted that it’s just schools of porpoises. Fun to watch how this develops. Time for the AI crews to head out for a try.

Someone needs to tell HG about this (the guy that caught the marlin earlier this year)

Sounds like something down his alley!

After that salmon score you can do it, just target the footballs, and you’ll do fine.

Even the motorized AI is hard to troll at 8mph. Plus the weather is not looking too good. It is probably a lot easier to take the kayak down south now and try.

^^^ this.    Based on reports I have been seeing, there is a real chance at finding BFT within 10mi of launch in socal right now.  + the weather looks alot more friendly

That looks like a lot of fun! Those guys are definitely weighted down for the ride back to the launch but they didn’t look like they’re our hella far out. Maybe next year I’ll take an 8 hour drive south and give it a try.
