The Big Bad Bean, Monday, 8-20

Well, the swells were big and the fishing was bad at Bean Hollow. I fished with Harold and Chuck. The fog was thick and the drift was so fast it looked like we were trolling. Not a good day. I ended up with a smallish blue that I kept. My launch and landing were smooth, but if timed wrong, could have been really nasty as some serious sets were rolling in.

I met a guy named Paul and told him it probably wasn't worth heading out, so he went to fish elsewhere. Chuck and Harold, I hope you guys did better than I did...I'm off the Bean for a while.

I guess that place can take care of itself with sharks and changes in weather like that.

also a reminder that when it's really flat, to just go, no matter how late you get up,  .

Fishing sucked.  The crazy fast drift made it tough to keep anything down in the zone without snagging.  Fuzz and I caught and released a few blacks.  I kept a cabbie and we called early and went into HMB for some Mexican food and chit chat.

What a difference a day makes.  Oh... well...

fishing is okay there but sometimes the wind seems to accelerate around pigeon point for a bit and that whole area really gets a bit of wind.

so you are sheltered from the swell a bit, but not really the wind.

there's a reason they used to windsurf at Waddell Creek! and maybe they kite surf it now, right?

I don't think wind sport activity at Waddell has changed at all. Just the migration to the kite from the sail. It seems like there are plenty of folks there whenever I drive by and the sun is out.
