Will be in SB next week for a few days, won't be able to bring the yak but wondered if it's worth while to bring some gear and fish from the beach? Anyone have experience?

Thanks!

The east end of Goleta beach at the slough mouth is a known halibut spot for surfcasters.
North of town in the Ellwood area is good too.
ask at Hook Line and Sinker for local info, and i think there's a little tackle shack at the Goleta pier now too.

I tried the beach area on both sides of the wharf downtown for butts last June, with no luck.  Saw guys catching corbina and sandbass though soaking bait.  You could always hop on the Stardust too.
