Hey all:
My name is Steve and I live about 3 miles from Santa Cruz Harbor. I just recently went out with Kayak Connections for my first kayak angling experience (tipped my kayak for good measure  :smt002).

I grew up on the east coast where finding a 5 fishing ponds/lakes/streams within 20 minutes of your house was super easy. I have come to the conclusion that the only way I am going to get decent regular fishing in  here in norcal is to take advantage of salt water fishing.

I am trying to read more, understand more, and take a few more trips before I commit the $$ needed to get my own kayaking rig. I am pretty close to pulling the trigger.

I got into fly fishing about 12 years ago and I love it. Every once and a while I try fly surf casting but it is really not the easiest for me to pick up - there is a lot going on out there.

I am not a "must catch the biggest fish" kinda guy. I am out there for being in nature and catching fish of just about any size and species which are legally allowed.

Anyway I look forward to the discussions and asking some questions. Thanks in advance!

Well you’re in a good spot- here and in Santa Cruz. Fishing off a kayak opens many doors as does this site for info/advice!
Good luck!
