Season dates for California’s ocean salmon fisheries are now available. At its virtual meeting last week, the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) finalized and adopted California’s 2021 ocean salmon seasons. In response to poor stock forecasts, sport fisheries on much of the coast have yet to open, except for the Monterey area which opened earlier this month.

The seasons are as follows:
- Klamath Management Zone: June 29 through August 1, size limit 20”
- Fort Bragg: June 29 through October 31, size limit 20”
- San Francisco: June 26 through October 31, size limit 20”
- Monterey: April 3 through September 30, size limit 24” through May 15, 20” thereafter

For more detailed information see the CDFW blog post linked below.

Management areas, bag/possession limit information and gear restrictions can also be found on CDFW’s ocean salmon web page at https://wildlife.ca.gov/oceansalmon or by calling the Ocean Salmon Regulations Hotline at (707) 576-3429.
