Hello All,

Ended a hike out at Stinson Beach a week or so ago and I got curious if there is good halibut fishing there. Its a nice sandy and gradually sloped beach which has all the hall marks of good halibut fishing but I haven't heard about it as a halibut destination. I'd imagine that you could launch from the Bolinas side where the waves tend to be a bit smaller. Anyone have any intel about the hali bite and launching?

That area is really good for halibut. I caught my PB there on a party boat many years ago. The launch is from either from the bay with the tide, or Brighton Beach. It is for ones with advanced kayaking skills.

Thanks for the intel Mark. I am definitely not an advanced kayaker so I guess I will stay away from the area, thank for the heads up!

I have caught more halibut off Doran Beach than off Stinson, and Doran is an easier launch.

Never been to Doran, but isn’t it near Bodega?

How far out did you go to get Halibut launching from Doran? I've always wanted to pull some fish out of that area.
