Not a bad guess.   Could be mistaken for seal flippers, or at least be worth a second look.   During mating season, the mirage fins seem to attract turtles -- I sometimes get followed and checked out in SE Florida

Nah, sharks definitely prefer yellow sit-inside kayaks to flipperbelly Hobies.

Wow, glad you are ok, quick thinking on the fishing rod jab.  I was wondering if there is a way to report these incidents so they can be tracked more accurately.  When I search, CA DFW has a website, but seems to be a massive undercount for shark encounters.  You can see that here:

 It may only track attacks, not sure your encounter qualifies.  Has anyone found a reliable encounter tracker?
