Duxbury Reef

Has anyone fished Duxbury Reef by launching at Agate Beach?

Is there a closer launch point?

I just joined the forum, see that you guys do fish Duxbury. I am planning on getting a fishing kayak in the near future. Look forward to joining up!

Currently have a inflatable kayak which I've had off Bolinas. Great stuff.

Welcome Smokey  As soon as hear of some fish being caught i'll be out there ! And i think Bolinas is about as close to Dux as your gonna get , but i don't know if i would do it in a inflatable

If you get a no wind day it should be fine Just watch out for the guys w the big teeth   If I was in an inflatable I'd follow the inside out to the reef, get a bead on the weather outside and find your spot through the break

If it's breaking big I think that would probably be about 1/4-1/2 mile toward the buoy, maybe a little more   I've cut through there on big days when it was fogged in

You live in Bolinas?

I wouldn't venture too far out in an inflatable. One errant hook and you could be swimming sooner than you need to be. Just make sure you, at the VERY least, have a good VHF radio with you.
I had to hustle back to shore once when I had a Zodiac because a black rockfish decided that the spines on his fin would make my boat into a nice pin cushion. He was right.
