Kayak Buying Advice

Hey NCKA,
My friend is looking into getting a kayak for the summer, and was wondering if people thought this was a good deal? $1400 for a 2005 outback w/ original mirage drive. Comes with some attachments. Any advice appreciated.

Hard pass. 16 years old and $1400. Way too much money.

For $1400 you could almost get the newer outback with the raised seats.
I personally wouldn't get any hobie pre-2008 unless it's from someone you know and trust.

Not that its that big a deal but i believe its 2014 and above that has the recessed area under the hobie to install the transducer. Anything pre 2014 has to have the transducer mounted in the interior of the kayak. Just some insight.

 I think 1400 is a bit much for that older kayak as well.

$750 tops.  Tired at best.  Old drives (depending on amount of use) subject to wearing out.  Keep looking.

Good point about the pre-2008 models. I forgot about that.
