Water temperature is 60 degrees, so it's still a bit cold for the bass to be intent on reproduction. Fished the lake (my first time there) and was surprised at the water clarity, absence of humans, presence of bald eagles, and how full it was. Some folks showed later ... fished subsurface most of the day and a bit of top water in the afternoon to no avail.

Went to the center of the lake and quickly landed two on a drop shot rig, so the fish are still in the deep water and not yet in the shallows.

I don’t know many who fish there, it used to have quite the reputation for a phenomenal crappie lake as well as some pig catfish. It’s been close to 20 years since I fished there but I did catch some solid bass, I might have to revisit it this spring.
