Well this sucks: Richmond oil spill

Looks like leak has stopped ~4:40pm but was leaking 5 gallons per minute for over an hour and forty minutes plus.

Chevron called it "600 gallons of a petroleum and water mixture."  Let's hope it was bilge water or oily-water separator waste.  At least that would mean lighter oils and easier cleanup.

Nothing worse than the old sewer lines that leach into the bay on a daily basis for many many years now.

Most likely not.  First it was only 600 gallons.  Second, it was oily water mixture, so fewer than 600 gallons of actual oil.  For it to be an oily water mixture, it needs to be lighter oils -- backed up by the type of sheen you see in the aerial photos.  Lots and lots of resources around Richmond for this sort of thing, too.

I find this so disappointing and unacceptable on many levels.

Whoa, I was crossing the SR Bridge earlier this week heading into Richmond and thought I saw this; figured I must be hallucinating.  I guess I need to listen to the radio once in awhile.
