I have the 4cv.  It has been great for the money.  Like any fish finder on a kayak, the problem is going to be the connections.  Keep them coated and make sure to keep them dry between trips.   A good cheap option for batteries are the 12v batteries that are sold as replacements for computer backup systems.  You can easily get two batteries for $30 on amazon.  The lithium batteries are best, but if a budget is a consideration, they work great.  I mounted mine in a clear acrylic food container that seals them during use.  When I get home I put them on a trickle charger so they are always ready.  Check to make sure your FF works before you leave home.  It’s easier to troubleshoot in you driveway than in the waves.
You can’t have everything, where would you put it?

I used female insulated spade terminal connectors, crimped on the red (+) and black (-) wires.  Easy to take the battery out for charging.

I soldered on a Deans connector to my Striker and my battery, since that's what I use on my charger, and everything else battery related. Use whatever plug makes the most sense for your situation.
