I'm headed out for a family day at the beach and was wondering if it's worth my time to bring my kayak and drop some pots around Hearts Desire Beach. It's about a 4+ mile pedal to Hog Island from there so Its pretty far from the mouth. Do the dungies go that far into the bay? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I dropped 7 pots south of Hog last Sunday and caught tons of red crabs but not a single dungie. Talked to a couple of guys who had the same experience. So, if you like red crabs it's worth it. If your just looking for dungies forget it.

Sounds like something somebody trying to protect their spots would say! Just kidding. Good info. Thanks

It's been tough. I'm getting good numbers out past 150ft but anything less has been empty, full of reds or slinders. Got an limit from two pots today. Getting more dungies on the short 2-4 hour soaks than the overnight stuff. Be aware commercial crabbers should be out starting Monday. Who knows what that's going to look like
