Hey everyone,

@fishmotion, @sin coast,  thanks for the advice.  Seems they do not manufacture the Revo 16 any more so I am proceeding with the Rev0 13.  Located a 2020 model and will probably get that one vs the 2021 which is 300 more for no new features over the 2020 model.

I have been using the windy app for wind readings but they also have a reading for swell size.  For a kayak what swell size is generally too big to fish?  I am thinking anything more than 5ft which is what I use for surf fishing.  What is the max swell size do you guys think is safe?

take care guys and keeo safe!

I was out between Del Monte and Pacific Grove today on my SoloSkiff, from 40ft-200ft depth, 7am to noon. Windy said the swells were 5ft at 12 sec, but there were some eye-opening bigger ones. I saw a few yaks all within 1/4 mile of shore due to the swells and 8kt wind by 11am. I would say today is the very limit for any sane experienced MB kayaker to be out in. It just stops being fun when you gotta throw out a drift sock just to keep your bait near the bottom, your line wants to go horizontal, and your core starts to burn just staying vertical. The closer you get to PG the bigger the swells get. On the plus side, I'm glad to know another local, let me know if you want to do a test run in Elkhorn Slough or around MB harbor when you get your yak. I've installed a few Striker transducers recently too, both internal and external.
