Any suggestions for a bait casting or conventional reel for sturgeon? I’ll be using it on my kayak and on a boat.

Anything that holds 40-60lb braid with a good drag.

I use a lexa 300 with 30 lb line.  I like this lightweight set up

Tie good knots and have a somewhat beefy leader and you should be able to use about any reel.  30lb as well for me.  My leader is 70lb rope leader like Dacron or some braided type... :smt006

Forgot to mention that I am pairing the reel with an 808 Phenix Abyss rod.

On that rod I have an okuma Komodo in the 400 size and I really like it. Casts decent enough, has a clicker that is nice if you get distracted while soaking bait. Not too heavy.

I loaded it up with 40lb braid.
