After 3 weeks of paddling/fishing almost every day ~10 hours a day, my arms/hands are numb some of the time.  About half way through the trip I started feeling it in the middle of the night.  A few days later, I felt it in the middle of the day while paddling.  I was using a bent shaft, which may be part of the problem as I haven't used one until this year.  And I did concentrate on keeping my grip loose, but I still developed this problem.  I also aggravated my shoulder impingement a little bit.  I think with a little bit of rest, I'll be just fine.  But I'm looking for pointers as to how to avoid this situation going forward.  Any help?

-Allen

So Chuck, you probably don't want to hear about how chewed up my hands are and solicitations as to how to better avoid this situation short of wearing gloves.  I hate gloves.  I was liberally applying neosporen and bandaids to try to heal faster so I could get back to pain free fishing.  And no, I wasn't lipping the lings.  And I did resort to gloves for a day or 2.

It was my fingers that got chewed up.  You know all those little annoying spine cuts and line cuts.

Dude, I know, I know.  I left mine sitting on the shelf in the garage.  I hit the 50# weight limit when packing and took them out of the bag.  Shoulda, coulda put them in my rod tube ... didn't!   :smt013
