Fresh water bass fishing.  From a kayak mostly.

I’m a bait caster guy. When I took up surf fishing I bought a Penn Fuego 3000.  It’s fine.  I just hurl baits into the waves.   It hauls in fish fine.

For small bass from the non boating ‘lakes, I got a Penn Fierce in the 1000 size.  Again. I just grabbed it and caught fish. I have a tiny Phlueger I backpack with for mountain trout in the Sierras.

That’s the extent of my spinning world. I kinda let the store owner pick my reels

Now?  I’m bass fishing a lot. I got my baitcasters figured out.   I’m kinda lost on a nice spinning reel.  Some friends tell me a spinner doesn’t need to be nice.  Some say buy something nice.  I almost dropped $$ on a Stradic 2500.  But I balked at the price.

How is that Daiwa Procyon AL?  Save a few bucks over the Stradic.

When I was on a budget a number of years back, I bought a Shimano Sedona for my inshore rod.  I still have it and have zero complaints about it.  I wouldn't see any reason to replace it any time soon.  I disassemble and relube twice a year and the internals aren't showing any signs of wear.  Looks like the 2500 size is ~$70.

I use a Pfleuger President.  Smooth and does the job at a fairly low price.  No complaints with it.

I have two Diawa Procyon 3000's and am in love with them!!! I fish them in the salt and fresh. I used them to drop shot when i lived up north and fished Minnetonka for smallies.

Now i catch perch and rockfish with em!  Super smooth and magseal is excellent- have em running strong for 3 or 4 years now

I thought Fuegos were Dawia's  if you liked your Fuego buy an Fuego LT I have heard good things about them very light reel. I'm really happy with Stradics. Reels are tough to get right now I've been looking for an Stradic FL and can't find one.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

You are correct. My brother just had a Penn fixed and the word was etched in my brain.

I’m shocked how small the 2500 Procyon is.  This is my 1000 Fuego.   The 3000 Fierce  is huge by comparison.

Wife wants to shop today, so no maiden voyage with the reel :(
