Question: Can I carry two rifles when hunting – one for deer and one for squirrel? For example, a rimfire and a center fire? (TC)

Answer:  Yes, for your example, you can carry a centerfire rifle to take deer (and squirrel) and a rimfire rifle to take squirrel.

While hunting big game in an area which had a lot of grouse, a couple of times I tried carrying both a rifle and a shotgun. It was a big hassle.  I quickly gave up on the idea.

I really dislike those two seasons overlap. I'll be hunting deer after several scouting trips only to have an upland game dog bust out of the cover and flush some birds over me and shotguns going off.  Even with hunter orange, the excitement of busting birds can result in hunters not aware of others present.
