How do you guys haul your 16 ft kayaks around? I have a bed extender hitch that works for now, but the kayak is hanging off a good 5-6ft. I plan to built a rack on my camper shell and mount it up there. Would a rack spaced at 5ft apart be enough to have a 16ft hobie revo on the roof of my camper? Thanks,

Here is my van with supports a little more than 5 feet apart. 16 foot yak rides fine as well as 18.5 feet.

I mounted mine on a roof rack, about 4 feet apart (?), on top of a four door sedan and secured both front and back to tie-ins on the bumpers.  Roughly 4-5 feet overhang on front and back beyond the roof rack.

I’d recommend a wood rack made to go on the trucks rails that allows the canopy to sit on top of it. Commercially available everywhere but I custom built this for a friend, his bars are removable.
