Cambria Rock 8/1 - Vermillion Gulp

Launched from Leffingwell at 7 AM and headed south towards Cambria rock. Things were slow so I decided to try some new tactics, Berkely Gulp saltwater plastics and Shimano Butterfly jigs. Both have been receiving a lot of hype. To make long story short on this day the gulp plastics outfished the butterfly jigs. The vermillion and blue rockfish were caught on a Kalins single tail glow with a gulp sand worm. Pics to follow next week.

I got some free 3" gulp grubs, great idea to use them as a trailer on a big leadhead/plastic combo!

scott, how big was your verm???  doesn't sound like you did too bad.

It was 16-17 inches and one of best looking Vermillions I have seen in awhile. I will post a picture on Monday. You guys are lucky to live down there.

I'm glad you did well, I'M bummed i wasn't able to hook up with you while you were out, I couldn't get out of work   The Berkely gulp is good stuff, I use the 5" squid alot, and have caught many Verms and others out of Cambria with the 3"  gulp shrimp in white on a 1 to 1.5 oz leadhead.  surprisingly I have caught some of my biggest reds on that little bait.
