First trip in the brand new hobie revo 2020. Dropped the drive into the surf during the launch. Immediately went head first in after it, luckily saved it. Got through the swell and things seemed alright. I use a bucket to fill my live well because it is all homemade. As I was filling the live well I leaned just a little to far over. It was either hold on to the kayak and flip the whole thing, or let go and only I go into the water. I let go and took a dump. Thankfully, didn't lose any gear. Good way to practice self rescue... The kayak hauls ass and I was hooked up twice on halibut but couldn't seal the deal. Going to have to take a few trips to get use to the balance and how far I can lean over. I am coming from a 33" wide kayak to a 27" one.. Overall a good test run. I am fishing Santa Barbara county so the water is still warm and I wasn't shivering too bad.

Dang...that’s a fast learning curve...those 1000$ lessons hopefully don’t come too often.  So far grace is abounding.  Geetum brah!

In my new kayak I had to stand up and bend 90 degrees to get thrown out. It is that stable.

My only concern would be how to flip it back over should something like a boat wake capsize it.

i saw a guy walking around on his Native something 13 footer.  it was like a boat dock - stable.

then on a tiny lake i saw a dude in a PA14.  he could walk to the back to get stuff.  hahha.

leash that Drive.  i literally used dog leash parts and some paracord.

They are no worse than flipping a sail boat and probably a lot easier.  I can get my PA14 back over and back on board in just seconds using the rope/step trick.

Did you try turning sidesaddle and dangling your legs? Secobdary stability is pretty good in Revos

I have a rope which is tied to one of my handles then it is the pull it over scenario which should work since it is quite simple to turn over in the water.
