No-tilt,,Solo loading cart

I’m sure everyone has seen those tricks to get the Hobie cart into the scupper holes using bungee cords. It requires some DIY to the cart, which I’m ok with, but I’m wondering if anyone has tried it, and if you have any thoughts/recommendations/insights to share.

My main concern is whether this technique can damage the scupper holes.

If you have the option, don’t get a scupper cart.

YMMV but I used a scupper cart for 4 hard years on my old revo with no issues (including lots of stairs and off roading) and with my new outback  for almost 2 years.

I had an Outback and it was a pain to unload, then put the cart, then load again, and the gear gets sand all over it 

I also use it all the time on my 2019 Outback - it's a game-changer for me. I believe the scupper holes in the newer models have been beefed up to better accommodate scupper carts.

I made the mod and it works great for me.  I have a newer outback so the scupper holes are reinforced but I'm still careful when loading and wheeling it around.  The trickiest part for me was figuring out the right length of bungee so that it gently guides the cart into the scupper holes.  I clip on the bungee to a spot on the rear of my kayak rather than hold onto it like some of the videos.  That way I can focus on lifting the kayak level without tipping side to side.
