Fished the near shore kelp Sunday.  Conditions were great, warm, no wind, just enough current to keep the iron moving.  Launched about 8:30.  The kelp was especially think and I couldn't find may opening larger enough to pull a swim bait across so I worked the outer edges instead. No luck with the swimbait and just one small bite on a tube bait.  Swithed over to a 3 oz iron.  Dropped into the mats and bounced it until I could get to the bottom.  This did the trick.  Ended with 2 gophers, 1 black and 2 nice olives.
