Saw this on the kayak forum down south. It’s worth watching, just to see how something can go so wrong so quickly. Definitely a few lessons in here.  Warning, if you don’t like blood or are squeamish about medical procedures, it gets pretty graphic at the end. Another reason to fish barbless!

Thanks for the warning.  I'll take a pass on watching the video.

Ive been hooked several times with treble hooks while trolling for trout in East Bay Park lakes.  I always have bolt cutters in my tackle to cut the shank.  Pull the point out with pliers and go back to fishing.

Damn, that video is gnarly! Kuddos to him for keeping his composure. I got my portable bolt cutter in the mail the other day and tested on all the hooks I normally use. Cuts with no problem even the strongest saltwater hooks. I think it’s a good investment to have.

Three simple words to avoid all the hassle.
Barbless. Barbless. Barbless.

Not an easy video to watch.

That dude is really calm for all of the madness he went through. ...And it's interesting to hear that "f*ck" is pronounced the same in Spanish.

Where is that video of the guy sticking hooks in his arm and having his friend pull them out by wrapping the bend with braid?

On the radio yesterday a call went out to the coastguard that someone had gotten a hook in their hand and started vomiting and convulsing. Barbless FTW!
