Hit the Delta today.  Friend invited me on his boat.

We did well on the bass. The boat?  Exhilarating!  Carving down those channels is so exciting.   I even took the opportunity to seek out a few kayak spots.  What a completely different experience.

I bought fuel, and was shocked how much money you can spend to barely move the needle. But the wide open deck, the speed, the gear....kinda nice.

I’ll never get one.  Storage is the Achilles. I have no space.  Plus I don’t want to buy a bigger truck.

Conclusion?  The best bass boat is a friends bass boat.  :)

I’m a bass rookie;  he taught me a lot today. I need a punching rig!  He got a whopper punching.  I was a spectator in the best weed sections. :(

whopper ploppers are a lot of fun.

Sounds like a great time, those bass boats sure do have some get up and go.

I owned a 21 ft Champion Elite Dual Console with a 225 Opti for 4 years. 60 MPH+ boat. I could burn $100 worth of fule in a day easy in the fall during the striper run. I miss the boat but not the fuel bill.

it was so tempting...

Theres something to be said for having a sweet little sled... I still get around 6 mpg so fuel bill isnt that bad (plus you can switch spots easy and not worry too much) and its easier to pee than on a kayak LOL. honestly easier launching and clean up too imo... All in all its worth  :fishing2

I used to own a Basscat Pantera II. When the gas hits $5/Gallon and Berting 145/month plus the Expedition to pull it. Aint worth any fish I catch. I spend close to $600/month fishing 2x. Forget it. But I concur so much fun until you look at your wallet hahaha

Overpowered bass boats are fun as hell to rip around.

This is exactly why I want either a Soloskiff or Stealth Powerfisha. Not 60mph, but at least you get on plane, and you get to your spots quickly, stores like a kayak and the mpg isn't so bad.

My father had a 93 Procraft 170pro.. 2stroke 90hp would just guzzle and smoke. Fun to get on plane, but the shallow V of a bassboat wasnt that fun in chop. Plus around town its like youre trailering Joe Exotic with all its metal flake.  :smt044

Do you have a write up anywhere of the process you went through to buy your boat, Christian? I’ve thought about getting an Arima or similar that I could take the kids on and do overnight trips with, so I’m curious to hear what you learned buying yours.

Love my bass boat and my kayak. Lucky I can afford both.
