When swapping out the treble on a Flying C for a single hook, it looks like you have to cut the treble off, add a split ring, then attach the single hook. Is that correct?

Or look at “open eye” hooks that you pinch closed instead of the split ring. But the split ring gives the fish less leverage to throw the hook.

Geez! I just tried cutting the treble loose on a Mepps Flying C. No dice. My Stanley dikes barely made a dent and the edges are now gouged. Maybe I'll fish with treble hooks.  :smt012

Yeah, I remember doing this years ago, had to use a dremel.
