Heading up to Donner end of month.  Thinking of taking the kayaks to Stampede.  How do you fish Stampede from a yak with no downrigger?  Heard the kokes were 50-60’ deep.

I troll a dodger behind a sinker slide with 1-2 oz on it. Was out last weekend and needed 2 oz to get on the fish. I start with 100 feet of line out and paddle real slow. Good luck out there. I'll have to try the Cptn's jigging method sometime.

Stampede is one of the only lakes I’ve ever seen the guides jigging over Kokanee schools too. Sure it’s not the only place, but seems to be popular and effective there. That place is small though and is getting a lot of pressure. Launch early if you can, and don’t be afraid to fish away from the fleet, there are always a few separate schools of Kokanee on that body if water, find the one nobody else is on and whack em before they scatter.

Orange always seems to get bit there too  :smt002
