Darkness Approaches PVC for Hobie Rack

I took a test ride this week at CCK and put an order in for a new Outback. I'm going to the dark side.

One question I had is what size PVC do you use for storage on a mobile wood rack. I have seen 2", 3", PVC, and ABS. Most people seem to use PVC.

Any idea of what diameter is best?

I use 3" ABS for my 2020 Outback.  It seems to work fine on my truck bed rack, and garage storage rack.  I did cover both with indoor/outdoor carpet.

I use 2" PVC (the gray kind, as it's supposed to be more UV resistant) to store my Adventure/Revo 16 and AI.

Although I do miss the upper body workout that you get with a paddle.

Luv my  Outback, seem to have a lot of built in trick goodies, like the knife holders(2)
As for ur question, can’t help, I’ve got a bed extender and love it,I think it might help keep the rotator cuff issues away.

Yes. By "gray kind", I meant electrical conduit, not the white stuff.

Got it...thanks. This is for storage in the garage so I don't think it matters but gray is a little easier on the eyes anyway. I'll check cost when I pick it up.

Grey vs white with pvc pipe is usually schedule 80 (grey) vs schedule 40 (white)

80 is supposed to be more uv resistant.

You could cut the difference and go 2 1/2 inch schedule 40. That’ll last for a very long time.
