On pre-2016 AI/TI, the stud holding the sail V brace to the bottom of the kayak is 1/4" SS, while on newer models it's 5/16". Hobie recommends replacing the 1/4" studs periodically, depending on how hard you sail (and especially on TIs).

On the Hobie forum, I have seen discussion of these failing on the water, which could be a real bummer, depending on the situation.

It's not cheap, at over $9 each, but it's a high-strength alloy, so probably not a good idea to use a standard 1/4" SS bolt. I'm going to order a couple of them, and would be glad to order extras and distribute them. At least you can save shipping costs...
