FYI

“Gov Newsom is also ordering all parking facilities at state beaches in Southern California and the Bay Area to be closed for the Fourth of July weekend.”

Anyone know if Miller Park in Tomales will allow parking?
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Miller Park is a Marin County Park and not subject to the state park ruling so check with park headquarters although getting a phone response might take awhile in that staff are working from home.

If they're open it's gonna be insanely crowded.  Probably see ya there

Its a bummer for sure, but I understand the reasoning. Biological reality is that there's just no way to corral the virus without some sacrifice. Newsom is between a virus and a hard place. There's no winning, there is only (hopefully) reduction in transmission.

I've been to my local beaches the last 2 weekends and cannot believe the crowds in the afternoons. I imagine its even worse in SoCal.
I overheard convos that placed a lot of folks from Burlingame or Hollister, Redwood City.

We're all in this together. Best plan is to try and take some time midweek and beach it early am or later in the day. A lot of people were heading home by 1-2pm.

"– Due to COVID-19, all Pacifica beaches and beach parking lots
will be closed for the long Fourth of July weekend, from sunrise Friday, July 3 to sunrise Monday, July 6.
Concern about the continuing, and increasing, transmission of COVID-19 locally and across the state
means that over-crowded gatherings, such as usually happens at the beaches on holiday weekends,
presents increased health concerns. Closing Pacifica’s beaches and parking is in alignment with
Governor Newsom’s order to close state beach parking and to close state beaches where local closures
occur. Closing beach parking without closing beaches creates impacts on Pacifica neighborhoods near
the beaches as crowds attempt to park in residential neighborhoods and beaches still become
overcrowded. Therefore, for health and safety during this increasing Coronavirus pandemic, beach
closures are warranted."
