I hit Clearlake at 0700 hours today. I picked up some minnow from the Fastmart store in Lakeport first.

I launched at Rodmans Slough and headed into the slough (Nice-Lucern cutoff). I lost more minnows from snags than I lost from fish. I hooked a nice size largemouth right at the start. A few minutes later I got a hook-up that felt enormous! He fought and fought and kept taking line every time I got him close to the yak. I knew he was going to be BIG. Once I finally got him to the yak I saw that he was no bass, he was a catfish. Oh well!

I ended up with another catfish about an hour later, unbelievable!  Next thing I know I'm out of minnows and the morning is still young. I decided to start throwing a Rapala X-Rap in perch.

What a great choice, I landed the biggest largemouth I have ever caught. I thought he was 12 pounds, but he's really somewhere around 7. Anyway, i ended the day with 2 big (21 inch) catfish and 4 bass. It was a good day!

Nice catch. I was there Sunday with my neighbor in his Boat, it was the best day of bass fishing I have ever had. 30+ fish in the boat, lost many others including a couple that felt like real monsters. Best fish just over 6 lbs with many in  the 2-4 lb range. Most fish caught in 5 +/- feet with Senko's and other plastics that were split shotted. Clear Lake was on fire!!

Ok, I did drag a little hawg, but no action. I was real hot. I exposed my belly and got rewarded with pink skin. Not smart!

I'll be out again in the morning draggin' hawg at Mendo!

CHEERS!
