Hi All -

My name is Doug, I'm fairly new to the kayak fishing sport and to the Bay Area.

I moved out here from Colorado back in October for a sales role at a startup in the PCBA/electronics industry, a role which no longer exists, so I figured it would be a great time to learn a new hobby that gets me out in the ocean and tasty seafood on the table.

I live in the Civic Center area in downtown SF and store my kayak down at HMB Kayaks at the Pillar Point Marina.  I'm paddling on both a Vibe Shearwater 125 and a Hobie Passport 12 that I got for my girlfriend, as well.  If anyone else is based in that area and looking for a fishing buddy, give me a shout any time, would be great to meet some other folks in the area.  I also plan on doing some travel up and down the coast to find my favorite spots while I have all of the extra time to learn more about the area.

Earlier this week, a friend and I also booked a guided tour out of Santa Cruz.  Turns out 'Bushy' is one of the OGs on this site so it was great to learn some foundational points while out on the water with him, highly recommended for other newbies or veterans looking for new info.  The halibut were on the bite as well as the rockfish, and I would say it was quite a successful day going home with a 23" halibut and a couple rockfish, thanks Bushy!

I am also an avid diver (haven't gone in this area yet though) as well as a mediocre surfer, so really anything that gets me out on the water.  I'm also quite comfortable in the kitchen and look forward to seeing what kind of dishes I can come up with from the fresh catch.

Anyways, looking forward to meeting you all out on the water or on the forums here.  I appreciate all of the information people share with each other so we can all continue to learn from one another.

Cheers
Doug

Congrats on the Halibut, Doug!  Great day on the water with you guys.  Keep posting and keep fishing as much as you can while you can. In your industry, someone's gonna snap you up soon I bet!
