If i was into kayaking fresh out of the service i may have considered long distance off shore. ( 1984 )  :smt001

I did do a lot of boating out of Moss landing with mostly compass and then upgraded to maps and handheld gps to locate my position.  A lot of it was by myself. Testosterone is a funny thing.

If I was to consider something farther off shore i would invest in a EPIRB. Havent done much research on them since i probably wont be going that far offshore .   :smt001

First example i found. Hopefully someone who has one will chime in on the pros.

Form is everything and for the inexperienced or exhausted, it is the first thing that is lost when things go South

I paddled my face off yesterday to no success attempting to troll up a chrome trophy.  You just paddle and paddle and paddle until you're done...it's a mindset, not a distance, eventually...If I'm averaging 1.5-2.5 mph per hour and I troll for 4hours straight, more like 6hours including getting there and back.  I was never excellent at math but there is a number there somewhere...oh, and I do feel it a little today mostly because I skunked... :smt005 :smt006
